I mainly shape modern retro fishes and shortboards, boards with volume and area that get you into waves easily, generate a lot of speed and drive but sill turn in a sixpence. I shaped my first board in 1981 and have been making them on a part time basis for myself and friends since then. Thrusters, quads, twins, singles, bonzas and twinzers. Flat bottoms, concaves, chines and channels I like to do them all. Most of my boards are constructed from polyurethane foam and polyester resin, although I specialise in custom timber surfboards both hollow and polystyrene cored. .

Flying Fish Twin

Board Model:
Flying Fish Twin

The Flying Fish Twin is one of my all time favourites. It is my go to board here on the Sunsine Coast. It is about 1/2" wider at the wide point and in the tail and nose 12" than the reguler Flying Fish with the 3 - 4 set up. The rails are a bit lower overall and the tail is heavily rolled down to razor sharp edge. The result is a very fast and loose board with a surprising amount of drive for a twin fin. I use the smaller 5 1/2" STF's from Shapers Australia and the bigger 5 3/4" ones for the bigger guys. The flyer is about 1" further back and the fins are set well aft in the board. No need for a small stabiliser - this is a pure Twin Fin with plenty of drive.

Low, hard and sharp in the tail
